Active town twinning in Cologne-Porz

Today, traveling abroad and discovering other countries has become normal for us. In Europe, living peacefully alongside other nations seems almost self-evident. But is it really? Current conflicts and debates suggest otherwise. To truly understand one another, personal contact and insight into people’s lives are essential. Creating such opportunities is the purpose of our partnership association. Through student exchanges, cultural programs, and numerous encounters between clubs and citizens, many personal friendships have blossomed. We will continue this work in the future, always seeking new ways to bring people together.

The town twinnings of Porz have existed since the mid-1950s. Born out of the experiences of two world wars, these twinning associations – originally established at the municipal level—made an important contribution to international understanding and to the development of a united Europe. Our association was founded in 1976, after the formerly independent town of Porz became part of Cologne. Its primary mission is to continue supporting and maintaining the partnerships of the Porz district. The members of the PVP carry out this work with great dedication.
